A hospital group watched a peer run on paper for eleven days after ransomware and reviewed its own position. The answers were uncomfortable: backups sat on the clinical network reachable from the systems most likely to be compromised first, there was no way to prove a copy was clean given dwell time measured in weeks, restoration order across clinical systems had never been documented, and nobody knew how long a full imaging archive restore would actually take. UPC Cyber Vault separated the last copy into a logically segmented, air-gapped domain — WORM immutability enforced at storage layer, AI threat scanning and restorability testing on every copy before it’s needed, and multi-VM orchestrated recovery restoring clinical service groups in dependency order rather than system by system.
