Upgrades to a San Francisco Datacenter Round Out UnitedLayer’s® World-Class Portfolio
With significant upgrades at its SF7 datacenter at 200 Paul, UnitedLayer® continues to offer premier datacenters with extreme connectivity for customers in the San Francisco Bay Area
To ensure premium performance while also reducing its carbon footprint, UnitedLayer®, an established colocation, managed hosting and cloud services provider, has taken one of its older datacenters at 200 Paul to a fully redundant N +1 configuration that ensures the highest availability and reliability for its customers.
With the installation of state-of-the-art Mitsubishi Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) machines operating in parallel in an N+1 configuration, customers are ensured conditioned power even if one fails, i.e. if one machine goes down the remaining stay connected to the customer’s load with no downtime. Similarly, an N+1 cooling system upgrade has ensured that if one cooling system goes down there will still be plenty of cooling to service the datacenter. Previously, this particular datacenter had UPS machines running at 80% efficiency, but with these upgrades, SF7 is now at over 98%, saving overhead and significantly reducing the datacenter’s carbon footprint. In addition, this upgrade has enabled UnitedLayer® to support high-power-density cabinets.
SF7 datacenter is now part of UnitedLayer’s® premier offering with high redundancy and extreme connectivity. It serves the needs of San Francisco and Bay Area customers that require a highly reliable colocation footprint or a complete hybrid solution that incorporates UnitedLayer’s® cloud.
“After acquiring UnitedLayer® in 2010, one of the first things we did was invest significantly in SF7 to upgrade it to a state-of-the-art, highly efficient datacenter. Our engineering team did a meticulous job performing the upgrade while keeping all customer load live — we’re proud to say we’ve had 100% uptime since the acquisition. We are committed to continuous investment in infrastructure to provide our customers with industry-leading uptime, while also protecting the environment.” – Abhijit Phanse, CEO
“We have been extremely happy with the reliability, performance, availability and service from UnitedLayer’s® datacenter. The new leadership team has demonstrated their commitment to infrastructure and the growing needs of customers such as Flixster.” – Saran Chari, CTO Flixster, Inc.
